LUV Systems Demonstrates 99.5% Airborne Virus Inactivation in Independent Large-Chamber Study
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS (July 20, 2023) - LUV Systems, Inc. today announced compelling third-party efficacy results for its halō™ indoor air disinfection system, based on independent testing conducted at Microchem Laboratory.
In a controlled large-scale aerosol study, a 5,000-cubic-foot chamber was filled with nebulized MS2 bacteriophage—a widely accepted surrogate for airborne viral pathogens. Results from plaque assay analyses showed 95% viral inactivation within 15 minutes and greater than 99.5% inactivation within 30 minutes.
These findings underscore the performance of the halō system as a continuous, whole-room air disinfection solution designed for real-world environments. Unlike passive protective measures, halō operates continuously to reduce airborne pathogen load, offering an additional layer of protection for occupants in indoor spaces.
LUV Systems’ product strategy centers on three core pillars that support both near-term adoption and long-term market expansion:
- Proven Effectiveness against a broad range of airborne pathogens and allergens;
- Certified Safety for use in occupied environments, including around people and pets; and
- Affordability to enable scalable adoption across consumer and commercial markets.
At the core of the halō system is LUV Systems’ proprietary low-wavelength ultraviolet (UVC) platform, engineered specifically to enable safe, continuous air disinfection in occupied spaces.
Ultraviolet disinfection is a well-established technology with over a century of use in healthcare, laboratory, and water treatment applications. LUV Systems builds on this proven foundation by advancing next-generation solutions optimized for modern indoor environments—where continuous air quality management is increasingly critical.
With growing awareness of airborne transmission risks and increasing regulatory and consumer focus on indoor air quality, LUV Systems is positioned to address a large and expanding market opportunity. The company’s technology platform aligns with key macro trends, including healthier buildings, workplace safety, and resilient infrastructure.
